Compassionate Aide Services Have Him Smiling Again
When my Pop’s best friend died, he took it very hard. He had time to prepare himself for it, because it was a long battle with cancer, but that didn’t make it any easier. The two had lived close to one another, and they would often visit and keep each other company. My Pop got very lonely without these visits, and I could tell he was spiraling towards a depression that scared me. The only time he perked up was when I was there, and that had me thinking about senior home care in Brooklyn NY for him.
It seemed that he had accepted his friend’s death, but he was terribly lonely. When I did a search for senior home care, I found exactly what I was looking for when I found Gentle Hands. These wonderful people go to a person’s home and do whatever they can to assist people. Some people may use this service for medical reasons, but they also provide a companion service, which is exactly what my Pop needed. I was able to get a free consultation, which I handled on my own without involving him at first.
I did not want to get his hopes up if this did not work out somehow. I need not have worried though because it was the perfect answer. When I approached him with the idea, he was very eager for his first visit. The compassionate aide who came out that first time was such a blessing. She helped Pop with some basic housework and prepared him a delicious meal, then they went to the store together. These aides also help with him basic hygiene needs, they remind him about his medications, and they have just completely changed his life. He still misses his friend, but he is smiling once again now.
